Ulupuna vineyards are in the northern end of the region close to the Murray River (photo courtesy: Ulupna)

Ulupna is a boutique, export focussed winery on a family owned farm in the northern end of the region. The venture is owned by the Bogdon and Ferrari families and was conceived by daughter, Viviana Ferrari. Most of the wines go to China, Hong Kong and Korea.

The vineyard commenced operations in 1999 and is located close to the Murray River and the Barmah State Park. There are now 22 ha of vines on minerally alluvial soils. Only organic fertilisers are used.

The wines sre the Murray River's signature varieties: Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon at various tiers.  The Royal Phoenix range is the premium. .

The wines reflect the riper style of the northern end of the region compared to the Nagambie Lakes but have more interesting savoury and mineral nuances than the nearby Pericoota-Echuca wines.
